Plyra Chess
Every ply, explained

Know why the move works, and what you keep getting wrong.

Plyra Chess investigates a position the way a strong coach would: it forms ideas, tests each one on Stockfish with rules fixed in advance, lets a reviewer attack the conclusions, and explains only what survived. Then it reviews your whole game history and ranks the mistakes that cost you the most points.

Free plan included. Engine analysis is unlimited and runs on your computer.

Experiment E1 · pre-registered Two Knights · Black to move

Hypothesis: f7 is the target. Only a counter-strike in the centre keeps Black level.

Pass rule, fixed before the search: 4…d5 must score at least 1.00 pawn better for Black than 4…Nxe4.

What you get

Three tools that answer different questions

Position investigation

Paste a FEN or a PGN, or play moves on the board. Get the best move, the idea behind it, the plans for both sides and the traps, each tied to the engine evidence that supports it.

  • Opening explorer: master and Lichess game statistics for every position, with opening names
  • Quick, Deep and Research modes
  • Claims without evidence are marked as unverified
  • Short forced mates proved by exhaustive search

Account review

Enter your Chess.com or Lichess username. Every move of your recent games is checked by Stockfish, and each mistake is classified by its cause.

  • Weaknesses ranked by points lost
  • Where you leave opening theory, compared with master games, and what it costs
  • Openings by score, phase-by-phase error rates
  • Conversion, time use on critical moves

Coaching plan

A written summary of what to fix first, built from your own numbers. Every figure in it is checked against your data before you see it.

  • Jump from any mistake to a full investigation
  • Export reports as Markdown or JSON
  • Your games stay on your computer
How an investigation runs

Ideas are tested before they are taught

Most AI chess explanations sound right and are often wrong. Here the AI never reports an evaluation it did not get from the engine.

  1. Hypotheses

The AI reads the position and proposes specific, testable ideas: a plan, a weakness, a tactic.

  2. Experiments

Each idea gets an experiment on Stockfish with a pass rule written down before the search runs.

  3. Review

A separate reviewer looks for refutations and weak evidence. Ideas that fail are dropped or downgraded.

  4. Explanation

You get the lesson, the critical lines and the evidence trail, at the level you choose.

Questions

Before you install

Can I use it during a game?

No. Using engine or AI help in a game you are playing breaks the fair-play rules of Chess.com, Lichess and over-the-board events. Use it to study positions and finished games.

Do I need a Lichess account?

Only for the opening explorer and the opening-theory check in account reviews. They use Lichess's free game database, which asks for a free Lichess login. Connect it once in the app; the connection stays on your computer and needs no permissions. Everything else works without it, including reviews of Chess.com accounts.

What runs on my computer and what goes online?

Stockfish, the account review and all your saved analyses run and stay on your computer. Your public games are downloaded from Chess.com or Lichess. AI explanations are produced by our AI service, which receives the position and the engine evidence for that investigation. See the privacy policy.

What happens when my free AI use is gone?

Engine analysis, account reviews and the opening explorer keep working without limits. Free AI renews every Monday; Pro has a much larger monthly allowance that resets on the first of the month. The app shows what is left on the Plan & licence page.

Why does Windows warn me about the installer?

Windows shows that warning for new programs that are not yet widely downloaded. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The installer only writes to your own user folders and needs no admin rights.

How do I cancel Pro?

Use the “Manage subscription” link in your purchase email. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

How do I update or uninstall?

To update, run the newest installer; your settings, licence and analyses are kept. To uninstall, use Windows Settings → Apps → Plyra Chess.
